Our Story

We spent years frustrated by gear that forced us to choose between lightweight portability and true, rugged survival. We were tired of heavy, cumbersome shelters that took an eternity to set up, only to fail the moment the wind picked up or the temperature dropped. We knew there had to be a way to stay warm, dry, and mobile without carrying a mountain on our backs.

The real turning point came on a freezing, wind-whipped ridge where our standard tent collapsed under the pressure. We realized that the industry was missing the mark: most options were either overpriced, over-engineered pieces of gear or flimsy alternatives that couldn't handle the realities of the backcountry. We decided to stop compromising and start building the solution ourselves.

Preself was born from that need for simplicity, durability, and warmth. We focused on the tipi design because it is the most stable, efficient shape in nature. By integrating fire-retardant stove jacks and high-performance, lightweight materials, we created a shelter that keeps you toasty even when the mercury hits zero. We believe you shouldn't have to be an expert to master the outdoors.

Today, our mission is to make four-season adventure accessible to every explorer, from the weekend hiker to the dedicated bushcrafter.
